Neill visits his Belgravia neighbour, Louise Kennedy, and shares with us her latest collection of exquisite bridal gowns along with the wedding flowers and bridal bouquets they inspire for 2016.
I would like to dedicate this wedding blog post to Louise Kennedy, fashion designer renowned for her exquisite bridal gowns. I have had a long standing admiration for the exquisite designs of my neighbour in Belgravia. Also Irish, Louise's couture techniques resonate with my own floral aesthetics and I was particularly inspired by her latest bridal collection.
Delicate Chantilly lace was the starting point for the collection as well as the timeless elegance of the 1930s. It’s an era I also admire; its décor and designs lend themselves to statuesque pedestal arrangements as well as delicate blooms such as Lily of the Valley, Ranunculus and Spray Roses.
You can see the attention to detail with which Louise has embellished this 10 gown collection. The ‘Poppy’ fine lace bridal gown with scalloped neckline is a particular favourite as is the ‘Zarah’ with a Swarovski encrusted V neckline.
Constructed in two parts, this gorgeous gown features a fine lace upper bodice and lower pleated skirt, composed of pure silk georgette, each panel is intricately adorned with finely encrusted bugle beadwork. It’s contemporary as well as classic and it’s this delicate balance which I also adhere to in my floral designs.
Also echoing my bespoke approach to weddings, Louise joins brides on a journey to create something truly special. “Irish brides are very discerning and when they attend their first appointment they have done their research and know what is available,” Louise told me and having overseen weddings for several Irish brides I can endorse this sentiment entirely.
If you’re in Dublin you should visit her flagship store and Bridal salon at 56 Merrion Square. This Georgian square is a great starting point to the city as is a coffee stop at the neighbouring Merrion Hotel, which I know very well.
And if you're in Belgravia on West Halkin Street, you can pop into our boutique to enjoy our gorgeous blooms before going next door to gaze at these fabulous gowns. Bespoke, beautiful and yet non-traditional, I defy any bride not to find a dream dress amongst this collection. I would pair with a bouquet of delicate Lily of the Valley to complement the lace and beadwork as the final touch….
